I have to say this setup saved my season, i couldnt qualify higher than 18th each race but I set the car up above and I flew round getting pole I cant remember the exact time as it was ages ago but it was under 1.17. By the way I am using a wheel, Legend difficulty no traction control, Tire sim off. Using this site and the setups I am now 2nd in the championship with over 100 points. This setup also works well in Valencia where I got pole, actually works better than the setups curently on Valencia!

Apart from it's normal straight, it has a combination of high-speed and low-speed turns, narrower than average track, and with a fairly bumpy surface and kerbs. To top it all off, because the track is quite short, traffic becomes an issue early on and never really stops—at times it becomes quite frustrating. Tyres wear quickly so you need to decide if you'll tune for 2 or 3 pit stops. I decided on qualifying and starting with primes because I was much faster than others in practise, I thought I'd spoil myself with options at the end for the lighter tank. Despite popular belief, don't tune for sector 1 (the straight) because the rest of the circuit runs off a completely different gearing and suspension set up. With this set up I had mediocre S1 times, but very fast S2 and S3 times which made me beyond untouchable. The stability is frustrating because improving aero and alignment toward it greatly reduces the car's performance through the high speed turns and exiting in general as well as utterly destroying tyres. So while it may seem a good idea to fiddle with downforce, lower the car, and push out the camber, you will soon have to deal with a bumpy track in a firm car that has no traction left. If you think you can go for a 4-stop strategy, best of luck; it worked for Vettel this year but only just.Final Thoughts The Spanish weekend couldn't have been over sooner. I was never happy with the car despite thoroughly fine tuning it; there just seemed to be too many factors for my poor little Force India to deal with all at once. I had quite a few spins pushing the car and differences in front and rear downforce to the limit but found a safe level in the end. Oh well, off to Monaco now where the car's tuning is relatively unimportant.

Guest samv
I'm in my second season at the moment, I started with Force India and performed wonders, got a contract from Red Bull for second season. Me and Vettel have dominated the opening 4 races. I've won all four followed by Vettel (except in China, the Ferrari's were really really strong and took 2nd & 3rd.). Anyways, I Arrived in Catalunya with P1 being raining, I ended up finishing 3rd, bad set ups. I then stumbled across this thread when I had started Q1. I tried out FrankieNesta's Set up. Here are the results.Assists: AI: Legendary Braking Assists: OFF Dynamic Line: OFF Gearbox: Manual Sequential Steering Wheel & PedalsQ1: 1:16.543Q2: 1:16.934Q3: 1:15.421Notes: I could have perhaps gone about 2 or 3 tenths quicker, I ran a tad wide at turn 10 (La Caixa, Hairpin).Lap Guide:Sector One: The first sector time depends on the exit of the chicane before the last corner, If you get good acceleration and traction out of that corner, you are in for a good start to the lap, as soon as you hit the apex on the last corner, open the DRS and use KERS till you cross the Start/Finish Line, use half a bar of KERS then just pick your braking point. Approach the corner as wide as you can, down 2 gears to 5th, take as much Kerb as you can through the easy left hander that quickly follows, turn 3 can be done flat out, or you ease of the accelerator down a gear accelerate hard down the short straight to the end of the first sector, you can use DRS if you want.Sector Two: Sector 2 starts with a tricky tight right hander, spot your braking point down to 2nd or 3rd gear, kiss the apex and accelerate up to 5th gear, next is a tricky left hander, down 2 gears to 3d, turn in for a late apex, spot your acceleration point and exit the corner and up to 5th or 6th gear, mind you don't catch too much kerb on the exit, you can easily catch a wheel in the gravel and your lap is destroyed. Accelerate hard to turn 7, down a gear or 2 and catch as much kerb as you can, accelerate hard through the next right hander again catch as much kerb as possible, accelerate up hill to a fast right hander, down a gear, or you can take it flat out, kiss the apex, maximum speed out of the corner, again watch out for the gravel, its really easy to catch a wheel. Open DRS and use KERS accelerate hard to the end of the second sector.Sector Three: Assuming, everything has gone right, you have posted quick 1st and 2nd sector times, the final sector is the big one, it can improve your lap time by as much as 5 - 7 tenths or reduce it by 5 - 7 tenths. Spot your braking point for the Hairpin down to 2nd gear and turn in for a late apex, accelerate as early as you can up hill to a left hander quickly followed by a fast right hander up hill, down a gear, stay as close to the inside as possible, spot your acceleration point to approach a touch right hander, down a gear or 2, mind you dont take too much kerb as it could ruin your lap, now approaching the chicane, were it can make or brake your lap. This can be worth up to half a second depending on your approach and exit. The only advice i can give is down to 2nd gear, look towards the apex and turn in, catch 2 wheels on the kerb and the right hander that follows, its best to again take 2 wheels on the kerb, accelerate smoothly for maximum speed out of the corner to the final corner, take this flat out and open the DRS as early as possible and use any remaining KERS for the line. It's my sort of guide to hopefully the perfect lap. Thank you for the Set ups here, really helped me.

Guest
I tried about 4 set-ups from here (on a Red Bull), and quertyjohn's set up was the best for me. I think the main difference is the softer front ARB which allows you to lean more on the outside wheels when cornering without the understeer you can get with a stiffer set-up. The Alignment settings are also excellent, you can really squeeze the throtle and feel the traction and grip. My fastest lap was a 1:19.8 on lap 12 with worn primes and Fuel 2 in a Red Bull. Sorry Cr4zy, normally your set-ups are great but this one is brilliant! ;-)
