Was trying to get the car stable as possible, i guess this is pretty good setup, use of kerbs possible too as i took the car bit higher from the ground than i normally use watch it a bit in fast corners that are bumpy, its very slippery from the back still.


Well, I can say you got it :)
With a few changes, I reached 1:15.736 (sectors being 20.051 + 38.029 + 17.654), also with Williams, all assists off, legend AI. Still in practice yet. And the lap was really far from being perfect.

Anyway, the only changes I made are:

Front Spring Stiffness: 8 3
Read Spring Stiffness: 11 7




I had to change braking because no ABS is a PITA in this circuit, mainly in turns 1 (Sainte Devote), 10 (Nouvelle Chicane) and 16 (Rascasse), and specially when using Mix 3. Less pressure helped me to avoid blocking front tyres and the balance lets a better "braking while turning", like in turns 3 (Massenet) and 12 (Tabac). Furthermore, game says that the race will be wet. With high brake pressure, I'm really sure I wouldn't be able to even finish the race XD

I changed the suspension to a more "softer" approaching but without breaking your understeer/oversteer balance. I found this better for turn 12 (really very very very bumpy in the appex; if not careful, you oversteer even with height 11/11 and springs 1/1, no joke) and the slower turns (from 5 to 8), just before the tunnel. After all, -3.5º / -1.5º camber and lower toe front gives you the responsiveness. Also, the likely wet race will also be better under softer balance.

Thats what I mean I know people better at the game will get better times on same set-up as me. Its feed back i'm after. Tried quite a few set-ups but with the joypad I'm struggling a bit to keep the car stable and my wheel just aint playing with this 2012 at all. Cheers for the feedback

It sounds like you need to adjust the wheel settings...  I have the Fanatec Porsche GT2 wheel...  It's a fine balance between the wheel's settings AND the game's settings.  I have found that the game requires the sensitivity to be increased.  Still trying to find the right combination of settings, myself.  BUT, usually I've found that using the car setup that gets the best reviews then allows me to feel what then needs to be adjusted as far as sensitivity requirements.

It's a tough balance, due to the fact that the car setup could be to blame for understeer (typical condition that prompts a hardware/software setting tweak).  If it oversteers like crazy (and reviews don't mention the setup making the car tend to oversteer) backing off the sensitivity (IN SMALL INCREMENTS) 9 times/10 is the cure.

 

My test for "is it a hardware (wheel) setting?" or "is it a software (game) setting?" is to put GT5 in the PS3 or Forza in the Xbox360 and see if known "good" setups feel like they improve or degrade.  Usually tweaking the wheel to accomodate F1 2012 (which I only have for PS3) tends to improve the feel of the other games.

 

My theory (PROS please give feedback on this!) is that software and hardware settings will ultimately give the same end result if you tweak one or the other ONLY (for the given game title).  But for what I will refer to as a good 'universal feel' (handling accross all game titles) obviously tweaking the wheel FIRST is the way to go.  Then from there make any further adjustments in each individual game title.

 

It's a tough situation... since driving style will dictate what car setup works best for you, how can you know if you should be pointing the finger at the car setup or the wheel settings?  That's why I always start with the highest reviewed car setups!

If you like like a grippy setup, or are new to F1 2012, this setup may be useful to you. Beware of the bay wall after the chicane, momentarily let off power and steering as you hit the bump or you'll find yourself rubbing the outside wall

 

Still the bump and the bay wall calls to me!!!

hey guys well just wanted to post cos I see this last message asking for a wet setup .... as far as I can see these will all be ok for the wet .... I had to double check when I came in that I didn't wander in there by mistake ..

 

I use a Microsoft ffb wheel on the xbox an to be fair ive found that 1 .. 3 aero is great .. 48 med small brales 8/10 balance cant remember g/box suspension 8/8    8/8 align top left bottom right ...

 

seems to work for me 1:13:4 online on options in quali ... not abs .. no tc .. line on corners ..
