It doesnt work for me. i just dont get setups right. Just use the same setup, you don't need to transfer anything, they meant that they can be used with pretty much any car. There are some minor differences, but as general rule, the Mercedes should work for most cars out there, although you wouldn't expect the same times, maybe the same handling... I think only in 2013 there was a noticeable difference between teams in a way they weren't completely interchangeable. And I also invite you to try for yourself, after all only you know your driving style and what works for it. For example in Baku you can start with the default setup or the mid-high downforce setup and from there start tweaking with the settings. First brakes and ballast, then toe and camber, the aero, then stiffness and anti-roll, then the rest. At least that's the procedure I use to achieve something that fits my style. I prefer to use the curbs and break late into the corner in a more reckless style while others prefer a more smooth and methodical trek. It depends on you. That's what free practices are there for. In the last corner you can eat the wall for breakfast or just brush it and get a puncture tyre in reduced damage or wreck the entire axis in simulation. Other than that I can't see other reason except using full wets on dry tarmac. Most of this setups actually use either low or average tyre pressure. I began my setup based on James'. Using the Renault with some upgrades I found I was lacking in S1 and S3 so I made some minor adjustments to win some time in S1 and make sure the tyres stayed frosty while pushing hard with an overfueled car. I'm an average driver (struggling to keep up in Exprt), but my S2 was on par with Bulls but on S1 and S3 I was .300 even .400 faster than the Mercs. On Quali I managed to post a 1:45.200. This. I've found this year that I've been using variations of either James' Mercedes setups, or the Renault ones posted by another user whose handle escapes me. As Merengues said, try and go for one that fits your driving style rather than push for laptime. The longer a race distance you race, the more important this fact becomes. Laptime comes with a number of factors; the most crucial one being driving ability; the other being controller type. Someone who is flawless with a wheel and peddles will always get a better laptime than someone using a keyboard or gamepad controller. Use the practice sessions to 'feel' how the setup behaves. What do you like about it? Or rather, what don't you like? Does it understeer in slow corners? If so, give a bit more front wing (or reduce the rear wing; I often recommend doing a little bit of both). If you're eating through your tyres, have a look at brake pressure (if you're not using assists) and reduce the camber on the suspension geometry; see if that helps. Might also be worth running higher downforce to reduce sliding through some of the higher-speed corners. Personally I like cars that are quite 'edgy' and 'loose', so I often take a good setup posted on here and take a couple of notches off the wing; increase the brake pressure etc. It does mean that in the race I have to go with a 'low tyre management' strategy else i'll get punctures, but on pretty much any circuit that involves high speed I usually end up outperforming the expectations of the car. TL;DR: Practice, dude. If you can't find a setup on here that suits, then take one that others have had success with, and tweak it to make it your own. It's why F1 has practice sessions in the first place.

I personally was shocked at how much I demolished the Mercedes cars (Merc and Rari had faster S1 pace, still!). If I didn't have a Renault engine, i'd hazard to say i'd probably would've gotten close to the 1:43's. I think my quali times will be even higher, when i'm driving with the bare minimum of fuel (2x lean, 1x rich lap) Thanks for the feedback. I mainly go for understeer because I use a controller, and there's no taking light the corners with it, you either go all out or end up eating the wall or out of the track. Try braking early into corners 1 through 4 then push it to the metal during the turn instead of braking late or being soft on the throttle, hence the brake pressure and unblocked differential... The Renault also has a weird gear ratio, try getting one extra gear down just in case. I use assisted manual shifts (otherwise is tiring on the controller) and often have to correct the suggested gear to not end up out of track. If you keep doing regular during the next races you'll find out that the Renault asks nothing from the Mercedes at least on Expert. I'm currently on Spa with almost half the upgrades (upgrades are way too cheap for the Renault) and I'm already starting to catch up, I just took pole with a car not even close to the Mercedes, demolishing everyone's time on S1 by .780 on softs (the Expert AI is too slow in C1 and Eau Rouge).
